Week Ten: B Evaluation and Audit

I’ve written nine posts since March. On my blog, all of my posts were set by the challenge. I didn’t write any that were school based or of my own interests. I have received only one comment. (https://evar7.edublogs.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=32&action=edit) This link goes to the blog post I’ve gotten my comment on. I think I received the comment on this blog post because I had very descriptive details and that might’ve helped to attract the readers interest. My favorite post to write was about leadership because I like to write and especially about these types of situations because the people I wrote about inspire people like me. I have not changed the theme of my blog because I haven’t had much time to. I only have two widgets but I don’t think I have enough. I don’t have any overseas students on my blogroll.

What were your first impressions of this blog?
“My first impression of this blog was that it was simple but that’s the way she is, simple. I’m glad she picked this theme because it matches her personality perfectly. Also just looking at her posts, I can already tell, she is a very talented writer.”
What captured your attention?
“Her titles captured my attention because they intrigue me to read her posts.”
What distracted you on the blog?
“I thought everything was clean and simple, nothing really distracted me.”
What suggestions can you give me to improve my blog?
“I there’s not much to say, but I do recommend her adding more widgets and to get rid of her sample page.”

The Perfume Collector – Kathleen Tessaro

image

The ultimate mystery is one’s own self. This story is set in Oxford, London in the year 1955, where Grace Monroe lives in the upper class of her society due to her recent marriage to a man with a high social status and sophisticated grace. During her struggle to try to fit in and be the person she thinks is right, an unknown contributor, Eva d’Orsey, issues her an inheritance all the way from France that will change everything. Grace is on a quest to find Eva and figure out who she is and why she sent her such a huge inheritance. Her discoveries bring her to the doorway of an old, abandoned perfume shop that once belonged to Eva. It’s filled with perfumes of her own inventions, and many mysterious bottles filled with secrets of Eva’s past and Grace’s future. Will she find what she’s looking for?

This writing is effective and very powerful because the details make the story come alive. This book has many strengths, including the amazing details and lack of innocence, that fascinate me and catches my attention. I would recommend this book to a friend because its details set the scene and make you feel like you are a part of the story and many readers like that. If this book were part of a series, I would read it because the author has a great writing style that I really like. Check it out.

Week Seven: Leadership

Famous leaders are national heroes that have made an enormous impact in our world. Their sensitivity is shown as leaders to the people who look up to them, people like me. Nelson Mandela, showed his courage to stand up to the people who used his words and actions against him, and fought for what was right. Although he was probably was pushed and shoved by many people, he always got back up because he knew that he had to make a difference and serve justice to his people. But to stay more on the general side, some characteristics that are common for leaders like Queen Elizabeth, Mao Tse Tung, Ghandi, and even Nelson Mandela, are tendencies like confidence, to fight against people who have constantly given them reasons not to, faithfulness, because they had the chance to give up but never took it because they wanted to what was right, patience, to accept and tolerate any delays while striving for their goals, and compassion, to show the people that they are going to fight their battles together, hand in hand, as a family.

Week Five: Memories

What are memories? To me, memories are things remembered and stored in your brain as flashbacks of good or bad experiences. Memories can affect people’s attitude because those reflections of good or bad thoughts leave you feeling a certain way, depending on what happened.

Week Six: My Passionate Hobby ~ Soccer

The hobby that I picked to write about is soccer, my favorite sport. It’s a really fun hobby of mine that I’ve started to enjoy since I was in the first grade. I believe when I’m playing soccer it helpes me to relieve stress and tension. It has been a passion of mine for a long time and I hope to continue it up until high school and maybe even college. And besides playing it, I like watching soccer with my family because it’s a lot of fun, cheering for our favorite teams together.

Week Four: Creative Commons

Computers are evolving into powerful and modern tools for creation and for sharing your imagination with others. For example, when you a draw picture you can sell it or share it with a friend. But, nobody is allowed to change your picture unless they have your permission. It depends on where you live because the laws are different but, here, in California, we call it Fair Use. Fair Use is using what someone else has created with their permission to share, change, or build on what they have created. This law grants full copyright of what you have made. Such as stories, pictures, music, photos, and even videos. Unless you have been given permission, no one can use, change, or take credit for your picture. If you want to allow people to share, change, or build on your picture, you should get a creative common license. This organization is made to provide a collection of free content licenses. It’s used to share what you want, with who you want, leaving you in control.

A content license is a document that states the limitations that you add to your picture. Creative common licenses are international and they come in all different languages. Creative common licenses offers six different license options. All creative licenses require you to give attribution. One example is if you don’t want to give other people permission to sell your work, you put a dollar sign with a slash representing the need to keep credit for your work and keep it your own. People can’t make money with your picture this way. They can only get paid when you offer profit for your creation. People can use your work or make changes for bigger and better work. This way, someone can build on your work and make the same creation. But they still have to give full credit to the original creator. Stay in control.

What I Have Learned About Digital Media

In the past week, I have learned that it is very important to keep yourself safe on the internet and be smart about the things you post on any social media sites.  I have been taught how to identify which are examples of digital media and how to use them wisely. I have learned how to interact with social media the right way and how to make a strategy for online searches. I recently learned about fake emails and how to identify them and keep you and your information safe. I have been taught that social media is a great way of communication but can be abused by its users and used for bad purposes that our teachers want to protect us from. It was a great lesson and it is very useful because we have the whole world at our finger tips now that our whole school is involved in the iPad program and our teachers want to make sure that we make the right choices and be smart about how to deal with social media and its effect in our everyday lives and in our world.
